I am posting a few doodles with the ideas on lighting. I think we can use the combination of christmas lights on the cable that are hang between the small window on the second floow (where the lights are plugged will be plugged in) to trees and other tall places on the edge of the garden. (It’s hard to describe. take  a look at the floor plan. I think it’s easier to see it on the plan).

I am curious how long the string of christmas light can go if we connect multiple lights togther. We need to test it out to make sure that we don’t blow up the electricity. I know for sure that it can go as long as 70’ (approx. 20m) and it might be long enough to cover the length of the garden.

Also my other suggestion is to use some White Chinese lantern under the trees for ambient. We can get paper lanterns from China town. That’s what we did for our wedding and it’s super reasonable for a very nice wow factor. They look really beautiful at night. From our wedding, we stil have 13-14 light sockets so all we need to buy is: 14 paper lanterns in small, medium and large ($3-5 each) and 25w light bulbs.

Also my suggestion is to rent 2 big round dining table that can seat up to 10 people/table on the concrete area and rent a few bar tables and place them aoround in the grass area of the garden. (make sure to rent white table clothes in the right sizes for all the tables)  I know older Japanese guests will prefer sitting at the dinining table but young people can just hang around and mingle?

Also I am collecting all the glass jars we come by now so hopefully you won’t have to buy many of the jars for decoration. You might still want to consider getting new jars for guests.
